Engineers In Action (EIA)
Engineers In Action is an international non-proft organization whose goal is to connect vital resources to isolated communities in developing countries. These communities often have difficulties getting to infrastructure such as schools, hospitals or even work due impassable rivers during the rainy season. The EIA Rutgers University chapter was established in the Spring of 2016 to help fight the problem. In the summer we participated as a tag along with Colorado Boulder University to construct our first pedestrian footbridge in Churo Alto, Bolivia.
Meet Our Family
Alex Sitarz
President
"Hi! My name is Alex and I'm a senior studying Civil Engineering. I am the President of Engineers in Action. In 2021, I travelled with EIA to build a vehicular bridge in West Virginia. I joined EIA my freshman year because I saw a great opportunity to help people while pursuing my passion in engineeeing. Outside of the classroom I love to cook, bake, and do arts and craft. I'm looking forward to a great last year."
Cole Jenkins
Vice President
"Hi all, my name is Cole Jenkins and I am a junior studying Mechanical Engineering at the Rutgers School of Engineering. For the coming school year, I will serving as the Vice President of Engineers in Action (EIA) where I have the opportunitu to make a real difference in communities here and around the world! The biggest reason I joined this club was to be able to give back to others and have the reward of knowing I was able to make a big impact on the different communities we help. Outside of the engineering scope, I love hiking, skiing/snowboarding, and watching and playing a variety of sports. A final fun fact about me is my favorite show is "Avator: The Last Airbender", with my favorite character being Zuko! I look forward to seeing and working with you all this semester!"
John O'Keefe
Project Manager
"Hello there! My name is John O'Keefe and I am serving as your Project Manager this year. I am a junior majoring in Civil Engineering and this is my 2nd year in the club after being a co-Webmaster last year. I am excited to help lead the bridge design of our chapter and work closely with the travel members to ensure we build the best bridge we can. EIA has become my favorite part of college because it has allowed me to grow as a civil engineering student, embrace new cultures and experiences, and do this all with some of the most intelligent and kindest people surrounding me. I cannot wait to see what we will accomplish this year."
Eric Rickershauser
Secretary
"My name is Eric Rickershauser and I'm the Secretary for Rutgers EIA. I am currently a junior majoring in Packaging Engineering with a minor in Business Adminstration. As a member of EIA, I have not only been part of an amazing community of people but I've had the chance to be part of a group that helps so many people and makes a real difference in the world."

Jessica Youssef
Social Media Chair
"Hey! My name is Jessica Youssef and I'm a sophomore studying Civil Engineering. I'll be taking care of EIA's social media by posting reminders of upcoming events and updating with photos of memorable moments. I joined EIA because it provides real world experience that I lack from classes. I also get to meet people with the same passion and goals as me which gives me a sense of community. Some cool facts: I can fluently speak Arabic, I made everyone think I was from London the first day of school and I like to play bball. I'm excited for the new school year and can't wait to see you all!"
Amol Srivastava
Treasurer
"Hey, my name is Amol Srivastava and I'm a sophomore studying Civil Engineering. For this school year, I'll be serving as EIA's treasurer and working closely with our members to coordinate trip funding and fundraisers. I joined EIA because it is a great blend of technical engineering and humanitarian efforts. It's also a great place to meet new people and learn more about what it takes to build a bridge. Outside of school, I like cycling, being outdoors and spending time with friends and family. I'm excited to meet all of you this semester!"
Jonathan Liu
Events Coordinator
"Hello I'm Jonathan Liu, a sophomore majoring in Civil Engineering. I'm the events coordinator for EIA, so I'll help schedule fun activities like movie nights or fundraising events that help our club. I joined this club because I love to travel, and the main goal of helping communities in need was something that I could get behind. In my free time, I spend a lot of time watching Youtube, and I grew up using Nintendo consoles."
